Giving customers food at the perfect temperature is part of the art and the demand of running a great restaurant. A good food warmer makes all that much easier. When it goes down customers are going to experience cold food, never good. Here a couple of things you can check before you call us
1. Are you plugged in?
Yes, it’s simple. Yes, it’s fairly obvious. And yes, we’ve all probably worked at fixing a TV or computer or DVD player for a few minutes before realizing it’s not plugged in. If the warmer doesn’t have juice, it’s going to be tough to warm. Since many warmers, like those from APW Wyott, can hold heat for a long time after they are unplugged, it might actually not occur to someone to check the plug. But if you start here, it can save some time and frustration.
2. Check the circuit breaker.
Similar to being plugged in, but a bit less obvious. Is the warmer the only equipment having issues? Is it plugged in? What about other units near or around this one? If you have a couple pieces not working, but plugged in, a trip to the breaker is in order. ALWAYS follow proper safety protocols when working with the circuit breaker.
3. Power switch on? Pilot light glowing?
If your switch isn’t on, or your pilot light isn’t glowing, you’ve probably found your issue.
4. Check the rating label for voltage.
This is a bit trickier and easier to forget. If you’re running a warmer that requires 120 volts on an outlet that can’t supply that amount of voltage, you’ll run into issues. It’s worthwhile to check this information when installing your unit.
Ok – those might have been simple tips. But worth a try before calling us at 919-813-2556.
